The national forecaster Met Éireann have issued an update on Storm Bram which will anthem Ireland today – an orange weather warning has been extended to all counties in Ireland
Storm Bram is set to land in Ireland today, bringing gale force winds, heavy rain, flooding and even thunder.
People are being advised to avoid unnecessary travel as there is immediately a status orange weather warning in place for the entire country.
This morning (Tuesday), Met Éireann issued a status orange wind warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford, which is valid from 07:17am until 3pm on Tuesday.
There is also an orange wind warning in place for Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath and all of Connacht, which is valid from 11am to 7pm on Tuesday.
Donegal is also under an orange wind warning from 2pm until 9pm today.
There is also a status yellow rain warning in place up until 9am today for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford.
Heavy rain is falling on already saturated ground, which could lead to river flooding, surface water, difficult travel conditions and outdoor events being impacted.
Overall, Storm Bram is expected to bring very strong to gale force southerly winds with severe gusts.
Met Éireann say they expected impacts will be flooding of low-lying coastal areas, especially during high tide, wave overtopping, difficult travel conditions, debris, loose objects displaced, outdoor events impacted and power outages.
Southerly winds, veering westerly through the day, will be very strong to gale force, and with some damaging gusts also expected.
The strongest winds will be near coasts, and where high tides coincide with onshore winds some coastal flooding will occur too.
Persistent and heavy outbreaks of rain may lead to flooding, especially in southern areas, where ground is already saturated.
As the rain clears northwards, it will be followed by scattered showers, some of which could be heavy and thundery.
The temperatures will be very mild with highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.
As for tonight, any rain in the north will clear, giving way to a mix of clear spells and scattered showers feeding in from the Atlantic.
Some of the showers will be heavy and with a chance of thunder. While the winds will ease, it will remain breezy with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, stronger near western and northwestern coasts. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.
