Cierra Alexis Sutton charged with brutal killing of boyfriend
A woman from Texas has been charged with the gruesome killing and dismembering her boyfriend while he slept inside their residence in Baytown.
Authorities have charged Cierra Alexis Sutton with the killing of 32-year-old Steven Coleman.
Police officials told KHOU she dismembered his body with a machete after firing the fatal shot.
The victim’s remains were then distributed in various nearby dumpsters.
KHOU reported that the murder occurred on August 16th. Law enforcement said two days after the incident, Sutton reported Coleman missing.
Officers received a call on August 22nd about a male torso that was discovered at a landfill in Baytown. The victim’s description matched Coleman’s.
Despite charging the woman with murder, investigators still have not positively identified the remains as belonging to Coleman.
The 30-year-old and her boyfriend were reportedly fighting on the evening of his death. It’s not clear what their disagreement was over.
Detectives added that Sutton purportedly confessed to her crimes to friends, telling them that she dismembered the victim because he was too heavy to carry.
She also told friends her 10-year-old daughter was at their home when the killing took place.
Neighbors said that they did not hear anything on that fateful evening. They also noted that Sutton acted as though everything was fine in the days after she murdered her boyfriend.
“She acted like she knew nothing. She was trying to call, hadn’t heard from him. Family members didn’t get a response,” Mikki Rogers, who lives below Sutton and Coleman, said to KHOU.
“There’s always been smiles, no signs of anything that would indicate this,” another neighbor stated.
After the body was recovered, Sutton allegedly fled to Louisiana. She dropped her daughter off just outside of New Orleans.
She was apprehended by police on September 14th in an apartment complex.
