Veteran broadcaster Rich Eisen is heading back to where his national TV career first began—and he’s doing it sooner than fans expected.
On Monday night, Eisen will step back behind the anchor desk to host ESPN’s iconic flagship program SportsCenter, marking his first time on the show in more than 20 years. He is slated to host the 11 p.m. ET edition immediately following the network’s coverage of the Cincinnati Bengals vs. Washington Commanders matchup on Monday Night Football.
Coming Full Circle
For longtime sports fans, Eisen’s return is a nostalgic one. From 1996 to 2003, he was a staple at ESPN, regularly anchoring SportsCenter and often appearing alongside the late Stuart Scott, forming one of the most recognizable duos in sports television. His wit, quick delivery, and smooth chemistry with Scott helped define an era when SportsCenter was must-see television every night.
immediately, more than two decades after leaving ESPN, Eisen will once again deliver highlights and headlines from the show that made him a household name.

A New ESPN Chapter for The Rich Eisen Show
Eisen’s SportsCenter return comes ahead of the official relaunch of The Rich Eisen Show under ESPN’s umbrella this fall. Originally launched in 2014, the program has had a winding journey through several platforms—DirecTV, Fox Sports Radio, NBC Sports, Roku, and SiriusXM among them.
Starting September 2, the show will officially debut on ESPN+, ESPN direct-to-consumer, and Disney+, while also airing nationally from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET. Episodes will also stream on YouTube, giving fans multiple ways to tune in.
The move brings Eisen full circle—back to the network that helped establish his career—while simultaneously setting him up as a cross-platform presence in ESPN’s evolving digital and broadcast strategy.

A Long-Awaited Homecoming
Eisen’s return is more than a one-off guest spot—it’s symbolic of the growing nostalgia ESPN is tapping into as it blends its modern streaming future with its legacy programming. For Eisen, it’s a chance to revisit the show where his career took flight while introducing himself to a new generation of viewers who may know him more for his NFL Network work and The Rich Eisen Show.
Whether fans remember him trading highlights with Stuart Scott in the late ’90s or sprinting down the field at the NFL Combine for charity in recent years, Eisen’s presence on SportsCenter once again feels like a full-circle television moment.
