Stan Verrett didn’t stay on the sidelines for long after parting ways with ESPN. The veteran broadcaster, who became one of the most familiar faces on SportsCenter over the past two decades, has already lined up his next big chapter in sports media.
According to a report from Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, Verrett has officially joined FanDuel Sports Network. He will be taking on multiple responsibilities with the growing sports media company, including serving as the pregame and postgame studio host for the Los Angeles Clippers.
In addition, FanDuel plans to give Verrett his own weekday show beginning this fall, giving the longtime anchor a fresh platform to connect with fans in a more direct and personality-driven format.
There’s also a familiar tie behind Verrett’s move. FanDuel’s parent company, Main Street Sports Group, is run by Norby Williamson — a former ESPN executive who worked closely with Verrett during his tenure at the Worldwide Leader. That connection likely played a role in helping Verrett find a new home so quickly after leaving Bristol.

Verrett had been a mainstay at ESPN for 25 years, most notably co-anchoring the 10 p.m. PT edition of SportsCenter since 2009. His smooth delivery and polished on-lens presence made him a reliable figure for late-night sports fans on the West Coast. But earlier this year, ESPN chose not to renew Verrett’s contract, ending a run that spanned a quarter of a century.
FanDuel’s decision to bring Verrett aboard immediately puts him front and center for Clippers coverage. He will be replacing Jeanne Zelasko as the studio host for the team’s pregame and postgame broadcasts, making him a regular face for LA basketball fans. Given FanDuel’s regional rights offer with the Clippers, Verrett’s presence should add instant credibility to their programming.
This up-to-date move also comes on the heels of another notable career development. Just last month, Verrett was announced as a pregame host for an NFL team’s coverage — proving that his versatility and experience remain in high demand across multiple sports. today, with the Clippers’ season right around the corner, Verrett will be balancing both NFL and NBA duties while also preparing to launch his new daily show on FanDuel.
For viewers who grew up watching him anchor SportsCenter, the new role will certainly feel like a change of scenery.
But for Verrett, it’s a chance to bring his trademark energy and professionalism to a fresh audience — and to prove that life after ESPN can be just as impactful as the career that made him a household name.
