The Boston Police Department dealt with nine aggravated assaults and a robbery from Friday into Saturday morning.
Over the 24-hour period from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, officers also responded to non-violent crimes including four thefts from a vehicle, five stolen cars and 14 uncategorized larcenies.
Of particular note was Friday night’s arrest of two teen boys on multiple firearm-related charges following a stop in the Franklin Field Housing Development in Dorchester.
The department says it had officers on directed patrol in the area “due to recent gun violence” when they saw a group “gathered abnormally in the courtyard along Westview Way.” Officers walked over and, they say, a 14-year-old boy “separated from the rest of the group and displayed nervous behavior, including avoiding eye contact, wide-eyed stares, and fidgeting.”
Officers said they suspected he had a gun and frisked him. The department says it uncovered a Glock 44 .22LR pistol loaded with five rounds. When cops found that, they say, a 16-year-old boy fled and the officers pursued and say they found a Taurus G2C 9mm pistol hidden under a bush before they found their suspect.
Both boys were arrested and face delinquency firearms charges.
