NEWTON, Mass. – Led by Donavan Phillip, second-ranked NC State men’s soccer continues its hot streak, defeating Boston College 2-0 in its first road contest of the season.
NC State adds yet another win under its belt after traveling to Boston College Friday evening to move back into conference play.
Donavan Phillip continues to take the nation by storm, scoring both of the goals tonight for the Wolfpack, making it his 11th and 12th goals of the season. The last time a NC State player scored this many goals in a season since Ronnie Bouemboue scored 14 in 2008.
Justin McLean serviced a wicked cross with the outside of his foot in the 29th minute to connect with Phillip and take the lead. Phillip’s brace was secured in the 71st minute to push the Wolfpack lead when Aidan Payne retaliated a cross to him off of Taig Healy’s aggressive shot to goal that was deflected.
On the defensive end, Logan Erb racks up yet another clean sheet, tallying four saves. The team still remains one of three schools in the country to not yet be scored on.
