Everyone remembers that one cool teacher they had in high school, right? The one who understood your references and made you think outside the box. Evan Marquez (Brian Jordan Alvarez) desperately wants to be that teacher — but it’s not easy when Gen Z is changing faster than anyone can keep up with. A gay Latino man working at a Texas high school, Evan tries to balance politics, professional growth and a personal life with the help of his colleagues Gwen (Stephanie Koenig) and Markie (Sean Patton).
English Teacher gently mocks Boomers, Millennials and Gen Z in equal measure as it examines how adolescence has changed over the decades — and how it’s remained the same. This is definitely a workplace comedy for the 2020s.

If you’re not familiar with comedy rapper Lil Dicky (real name Dave Burd), you may be shocked by his raunchy raps — but you’ll be laughing along the way. In this fictionalized take on his life, he plays a version of himself who’s attempting to make it in the track biz. Dave’s massive ego and equally monumental neuroses get in his way more often than not, often alienating his friends GaTa (played by the rapper of the same name) and Mike (Andrew Santino), as well as his on/off girlfriend Ally (Taylor Misiak).
Packed with celebrity cameos and surreal songs, Dave is a hilarious and often heartbreaking satire of the track industry.

Despite the star power of Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, this Mexican series didn’t get a ton of attention on Hulu — maybe because it’s all in Spanish? If you missed it, La Máquina is definitely worth a movie. The special series follows aging boxer Estebán “La Máquina” Osuna (Bernal) and his plastic surgery–addicted agent Andy (Luna).
It’s a true buddy series about these friends’ attempts to dig themselves out of messes of their own making. The dark comedy is amped up by Estebán’s frequent hallucinations, born of many years of concussions. At its heart, La Máquina is an underrated sports dramedy about two men trying to figure out their next steps in middle age.
