EXCLUSIVE: Following the tragic death of her beloved husband Bobby (Peter Krause), Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) will likely be leaning more on her family, including her two children, May and Harry.
Corinne Massiah, who play Athena’s eldest child, May Grant, and Elijah M. Cooper, who portrays the youngest child, Harry Grant, have been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming ninth season of ABC’s first-responder drama set in Los Angeles.
This marks a return to a series regular status for Massiah who started as a recurring in Season 1 followed by a regular stint in Seasons 2-5 before stepping back to guest star/recurring as her character attended USC while Massiah herself was a full-time student at UCLA. She graduated two months ago with a degree in sociology and will today be back on 9-1-1 full-time.
Cooper has recurred on 9-1-1 since Season 7. The character was portrayed by a different actor in a recurring capacity for Seasons 1-5. Harry was not seen in Season 6 as he went to live with his father.
Massiah and Cooper join the 9-1-1 Season 9 series regular ranks that include Bassett, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Han, Oliver Stark as Evan “Buck” Buckley, Kenneth Choi as Howie “Chimney” Han, Aisha Hinds as Henrietta “Hen” Wilson, Ryan Guzman as Eddie Diaz and Gavin McHugh as Christopher Diaz.
