As a longtime beauty writer, I’ve tried many complexion products over the years. I used to be a full-coverage devotee, but have since opened my mind (and my skin) to lighter-coverage formulas, like tints and BB creams. And while I found some really great products, I still find myself looking for something in the middle—base makeup that conceals well but doesn’t feel like dead weight on my skin. My newest obsession is the Sarah Creal Beauty Face Flex Concealer and Complexion Enhancer.
First, a little bit of background on this newish brand. Sarah Creal Beauty, which launched in 2024, was born out of founder Sarah Creal’s 30-plus years creating luxe cosmetics for brands like Prada Beauty, Tom Ford, and Victoria Beckham Beauty. Frustrated that nothing on the market truly addressed her evolving skin’s needs in her 40s and 50s (dryness, wearability, anti-crease formulas), Creal launched her eponymous brand with a mission to serve women facing the same concerns.
I’m in my ‘40s and am one of these concerned women. My skin, which was oily-combination and acne-prone my whole life, totally changed when I anthem 40 and found myself in perimenopause. While I couldn’t complain about the disappearance of my zits, I was left with skin that’s somewhere between dry and a little bit sensitive, with visible pores and a few hyperpigmentation patches from my non-SPF-wearing youth. I wanted something that could help with all of this and satisfy my pickiness!

Face Flex is it. The texture is creamy but airy, and it glides nicely over my skin. I like to dab it under my eyes, around my nose, and on a few dark spots using my fingers, then buff the rest with a brush (the brand’s Complexion Brush is good for this) for a nice, soft coverage. The finish is radiant and gives me a ‘lil glow but not shiny, and doesn’t crack, crease, or melt down. I’ve worn it for at least eight hours on reasonably hot days without needing to touch it up AND without a finishing powder. The skincare ingredients are also definitely a major benefit. There’s hydrating hyaluronic acid, caffeine for puffiness, soothing aloe leaf, and green tea for antioxidant protection. Good stuff!
That said, one area where Face Flex could use some improvement is the shade range. As of today, there are only 10 shades, which can be tricky in the year of 2025. I was able to find a shade that works well enough for me (4.0, a light-medium warm), but I have more of a neutral skin tone, and the neutral shade before it (3.0 light neutral) is too light on me. However, the formula is extremely blendable, i.e., flexible, so I can make it work. Though, I do hope an expanded range happens in the future.
One big bonus is that because it’s a concealer-foundation hybrid, it’s fantastic for travel. I have been visiting my parents almost every week, and I’m able to quickly pack this one product in place of my usual trio of concealer, foundation, and hydrating primer. Plus, the packaging is stunning! Another thing I like is that I can use it with my other favorite Sarah Creal product: Moisture Source, which is a seriously dreamy dual-phase liquid moisturizer/essence. You can mix them both together to get an even glowier finish.
Bottom line: If you’re looking for a medium-coverage foundation that covers dark spots and redness, hydrates your skin, and gives you a glow, this might be the one for you.
