Seth Meyers’ beloved dog, Frisbee, has crossed the rainbow bridge — and of course, Andy Samberg found a way to keep their long-running “feud” alive even in her memory.
On August 19, Seth announced that his family’s Italian greyhound had died at the age of 14, just one day after Andy’s birthday. The Late Night host shared a heartfelt carousel of photos of the pup on Instagram, writing, “RIP to Frisbee, our OG IG who I was happy to go grey with. She was at her best curled in your lap and patient when we dressed her up like a pilgrim. Thanks for 14 amazing years, shorty.”
The post was met with an outpouring of love from friends and fans alike. Amy Poehler commented, “Frisbee forever 🥏.” Rachel Dratch added, “Noooo! Frisbeeee! sorry for your loss.❤️.” Kenan Thompson sent his support with, “Oh nooooo!!! So sorry buddy!!! ❤️❤️.”
But for some, the news immediately brought to mind Frisbee’s infamous “nemesis” — Seth’s longtime pal Andy Samberg. In fact, the 47-year-old Brooklyn Nine-Nine star cheekily acknowledged the pup’s passing by resharing a Vulture headline on his Instagram Story that read: “Frisbee, Seth Meyers’s Dog and Andy Samberg’s Nemesis, Dead at 14.”
The inside joke between the two comedians goes back years. During a fan Q&A on Late Night, Seth once revealed that Andy hadn’t liked Frisbee “since she was little,” recalling how Andy even scratched the dog’s face out of a family Christmas card “like a serial killer” and mailed it back.
In 2020, the bit resurfaced when Seth showed Andy a photo of Frisbee during a video chat segment. Andy admitted, “There was a moment where I was, like, ‘Oh, yes!’ Because in the picture, it almost looks like Frisbee is dead, you know?” He added that the thought of Frisbee dying “was jubilation.” When Seth brought Frisbee on lens, the dog turned away, prompting him to laugh, “Look how much she hates you. She hates you so much.” Andy tried to soften the blow — “Frisbee, I just want to say, it’s all in good fun, you’re a good dog” — before flashing a sticky note that bluntly read: “Frisbee sucks.”
Andy kept the bit alive in March 2023 when he guest-hosted a parody segment called A Grosser Look, roasting Frisbee as “Seth’s nightmare-inducing hellspawn” and “the worst greyhound since the bus.” And just a month later, Amy Poehler pranked Andy on her “Good Hang” podcast with Seth by pretending Frisbee had died. Andy’s response? “Don’t even play, ’cause I’ll be so happy,” he said without hesitation. “That dog sucks, guy. That dog is like a rat carcass.”
Still, the ongoing gag was always rooted in humor — and fans are immediately treating it as part of Frisbee’s legacy. One commenter summed it up perfectly: “May her ghost haunt Andy Samberg forever 🙏🏻♥️.”
