The R&B duo’s one member, Lee Min, whose real name is Lee Min Young, died at the age of 46. She was found dead in her home on August 5. The police officials are currently investigating the case and have asked the media to not speculate anything. A representative of BrandNew beat, a Korean beat company founded by Korean rapper and producer Rhymer, shared an update on this matter on August 6 and stated, “The police are conducting an investigation.” The agency has also asked the public to refrain from any speculation until the investigation is ongoing.
According to AllKpop, sources revealed that Lee Min had remained active up until recently. She released her new beat, “Happy Birthday,” in June of this year. Besides this, the singer appeared on Park Bo Gum’s “Cantabile.”
The K-pop industry mourned the loss of the singer and paid tribute on social media. Jae Chong, the Seoul-born and Los Angeles-raised producer, took to Instagram and penned, “Just lost another great musician and friend. I met Min when she was just 17 with big dreams and took her out to Korea to pursue a career in beat back in 1998.”
He added, “I watched her career blossom as an musician. I always considered her family. She was the most optimistic, positive person I knew. She will be missed dearly. Rest in peace. #AsOne.”
