Aussie star Darren Hayes has revealed the eye-watering amount he had to fork out for his medical bills after suffering a horrific fall earlier this year.
Back in April, the Savage Garden singer revealed in an Instagram post that he had suffered a major fall, lost consciousness and broke his jaw which required a titanium brace to hold it in place.
The recovery that followed was long and, as it turns out, very expensive.
The musician, who lives in Los Angeles, shared one of his medical bills revealing the staggering cost of the medical emergency.
The medical bill charged him US$15,245 ($23,306) for “doctor/ facillity charges”, with an extra $7754.75 ($11855.52)listed as “due to your doctor/ facility”.
After a signiificant insurance rebate of $US6979.28 ($10,669.97), Hayes was left with US$8100.72 ($12,384.44) to pay out of his own pocket.

“This is just one of the MANY bills I’ve received after breaking my jaw (for newbies don’t worry it was in March I’ve recovered,” Hayes wrote in the caption.
“This is the bill AFTER insurance. And I have good insurance,” he continued.
“This particular charge is for one surgeon who wasn’t part of the hospital so they had their own 15 grand fee.”
Hayes went on to explain that the total amount of his recovery totalled a staggering six figures.
“I could add it all up but with my dental repairs etc it’s been about 100 grand,” he wrote.
Hayes went on to reflect on the staggering cost of medical care in the United States and his shock at the system.
“America is broken,” he stated simply.
His bill shock comes five months after he revealed the aftermath of his traumatic fall.
The singer took to his Instagram account to share photos of his face and an X-ray with a lengthy caption explaining why he will shortly be away from the spotlight.
The star shared that in March, two months after his mother passed away, he had a “terrible accident” that saw him lose consciousness and fall three times after getting out of bed.
“The blunt force trauma was so severe it snapped my left jawbone in half. I woke up in a pool of blood, terrible pain in my left side of my head and with 9 teeth shattered,” he shared.
He felt “so lucky” that he was found, being taken to Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California, adding that “I could have died if I landed in a different position.”
Surgeons inserted a titanium brace into the singer’s mouth to reconnect his jaw bones, with his jaw being wired shut as he recovered.
The singer was then required to undergo dental repairs and rehab to regain jaw function.
