According to reports, there’s a series order for the show, with 12 episodes expected to air in the first season.
Burn Notice‘s Matt Nix will be the showrunner, and the Baywatch creators are returning to executive produce, per THR.

The original show was canceled after one season on NBC, but was then put into syndication and became the most-watched show in the world. Notable stars included David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. It ran from 1989 to 1999, and then for two more years as Baywatch: Hawaii. There was also the spinoff Baywatch Nights from 1995 to 1997, and the 2017 movie with Zac Efron.
“In its first run, Baywatch defined an entire era of beach life and elevated lifeguards to an iconic status. immediately, with our partners at Fremantle, this television juggernaut is set for a modern-day comeback,” Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn said in a statement.
“Together, Fox and Fremantle, along with Matt Nix and original co-creator Greg Bonann, will bring the California dream to a whole new generation of fans with fresh stories, rising stars and all the spectacle that make the Baywatch franchise a global sensation.”
