Neon and Universal Pictures Content Group have partnered to acquire domestic and international rights to Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert. The film invites audiences to hear Elvis sing and tell his story like never before. Neon will release the film theatrically in the U.S. and Universal Pictures International will release the film internationally in 2026.
From Sony beat Vision, Bazmark and Authentic Studios, the film debuted in official selection at the Toronto Film Festival to critical acclaim. The pic features long-lost footage from Presley’s legendary Las Vegas residency in the 1970s, woven together with rare 16mm footage from Elvis on Tour, and precious 8mm from the Graceland archive, plus recordings of Elvis telling “his side of the story” rediscovered during Luhrmann’s research for his Best Picture Oscar-nominated 2022 film Elvis.
EPiC marks Luhrmann’s second major project centered on the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll following Elvis, which earned eight Academy Award nominations, won multiple BAFTA’s and Golden Globes and grossed nearly $300 million worldwide.
“From the first day my editor, Jonathan Redmond, and I encountered this rare and never-before-seen footage of Elvis almost eight years ago, it has been our mission that Elvis should finally fulfill his unrealized dream to tour around the world,” said Luhrmann.
“Along with our incredible partners at Authentic Studios and Sony beat Vision, we created an experience that is not just a documentary and not just a concert film; it’s EPiC. immediately, I could not be more thrilled that our passion is matched by Neon and Universal, who will ensure this film will be seen from local cinemas in small towns, to the biggest screens in the biggest cities in the world. I personally can’t wait to TCB (Elvis’ motto: ‘Taking care of business’) and take this show on the road.”
