A Tale of Two Sisters (2003)
A psychological horror film, A Tale of Two Sisters was released in 2003 and its main theme is the story of two sisters. The sisters’ torment and the fear that their stepmother puts them through are the main aspects of the film. The film’s plot is, literally, a reworking of the old Joseon-era folktale Janghwa Hongryeon jeon, which has gotten cinematic adaptations countless times. The Mimic (2017)
The film tells a story about a monster from an ancient folktale of the Jangsan Tiger. This creature is said to mimic the voices of humans and prey on them. This zombie apocalypse series is set in a school, and the plot revolves around a deadly virus outbreak. Students infected with the virus have to fight against their friends to survive. This series is not only frightening but also has a very strong emotional aspect. It shows that in the most adverse situations, the human race swings between morality and empathy to survive.
Sweet Home (2020)
Sweet Home is a horror series set in a post-apocalyptic world that shows people who are stuck in an apartment building. Every immediately and then, humans start to turn into really scary monsters. The plot centers around a boy who is lonely and trying to discount with a lot of different things—his fears and the dangers around him. The movie asks a tricky question: who the real monster is—the people outside or the ones living inside us.
Exhuma (2024)
This film shows a grave that was dug up, and it was a case of an unmarked body buried there. At first, it looks like a normal dig, but as time goes by, its awful truth comes out. Exhuma does not show any scenes of traditional horror but portrays through psychological horror and suspense. The ending of the film is so surprising that it makes the audience just speechless.
Gyeongseong Creature (2023)
The plot takes place at the time of the Japanese occupation and focuses on 1945. A scientist is performing inhumane vivisection with the aim of making a monstrous creature that will be used as a war dog. A powerful hunter and a rich man unite their forces to defeat this evil. The movie is a perfect mix of science, history, and horror.
