A man at a Billie Eilish concert was seen violently yanking the 23-year-old singer-songwriter Thursday night during a brief but alarming incident, according to viral videos.
In a TikTok shared by a user named @its_nikkixo, the star eagerly made her way offstage to greet fans at the barricade with high-fives after performing Guess. As she reached for one fan, the person appeared to yank her, causing her to stumble into the barricade. After security helped her up, Billie quickly bypassed the rest of the cheering crowd and headed backstage.
Despite the incident, the nine-time Grammy winner kept her composure, freed herself, and continued walking without missing a beat.
“The person was ejected from the Kaseya Center,” the Miami Police Department said Friday. No criminal charges are currently pending. Eilish and her brother, Finneas, praised a fan involved in the incident writing on social media, “Red bandana mami from last night’s show rules.”
The mami, who has been identified as Aniyah, according to the Independent, reacted quickly in the moment helping put space between Eilish and the fan who yanked her.
Eilish previously opened up to Vanity Fair where she spoke about why she is cautious when it comes to being with her fans.
“We all know the feeling of seeing yourself and being like, What is going on with me, I’m acting insane,” Eilish told Vanity Fair in an interview published January 2021.
“When you’re excited about something, you forget boundaries and you forget what’s polite and what’s kind of not polite. I’ve had a lot of weird situations—people will kiss me and pick me up, spin me around.”
She continued saying, “It is definitely important to have the boundaries and also have people around you that can help in a situation like that. I never want to push away somebody that’s showing me only love. And even if it’s coming from a place of wild love, I don’t ever want to push that too far away.”
