
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport was temporarily locked down overnight because of a threat.Around midnight on Thursday morning, Londonderry police received information from police in New Boston regarding a potential threat involving the airport.According to the report, the threat indicated there could be an explosive device in a vehicle in the airport parking garage. “So the initial report, as I understand it, was that there was a vehicle located within the parking garage that contained explosives. And, they were given a timeline of one that was going to detonate. That was the initial phone call,” Londonderry Police Lt. Garrett Malloy told WMUR.Police said as officers responded to determine the threat’s validity, additional information was received indicating that the person who made the threat might be armed with an AR-15 rifle.Londonderry police said early on in the investigation, though, it appeared the threat was most likely a hoax.”I came on a flight from Chicago, and they wouldn’t let any of us leave,” said traveler Jamie-Lynn Hazzard. “They were blocking us in and they said we couldn’t leave, and they said there was an incident with explosives in the parking garage.”>> Download the free WMUR app to get updates on the go: Apple | Google Play <<“So, from what I understand, any passengers that were located within the terminal when this came in, they were allowed to freely, you know, leave in their vehicles, unless, of course, they were parked in the parking garage,” Malloy said.Police said a “thorough assessment” was done for more than an hour and no explosive device was found.”It’s important to note in this scenario that, again, it appears to be a hoax,” Malloy said. “Our officers are at the airport 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
