I was looking at the rainfall projections for this week, figuring I would need to pick the best days to be outside and stay dry. But after a soaking rain late last week, it looks dry for the foreseeable future.
The weather has been pretty remarkable this September, and we’re going to end on a warm and dry note. This is also how we will start October.
If you’re looking for differences between Monday and Tuesday — and Wednesday and Thursday — you’ll have to look at the high and low temperatures, whether or not it’s completely clear or just partially clear, and the specific direction of the wind. Otherwise, the days are going to bleed into one another over the next week or two, and it’s going to seem more like San Diego than Greater Boston.
After a gorgeous and very warm Sunday, dry air will filter in from the north overnight, allowing temperatures to start in the 50s on Monday morning. This will bring back that fall feeling at sunrise, although it’s not going to last. By mid-afternoon, temperatures will once again be in the mid- to upper 70s with a few spots nudging 80 degrees, far above average.

We haven’t been above 70 in Boston the last two days of September since 2020. The 30-year average for the final days of the month is in the upper 60s. It actually topped 88 degrees back in 1952 on Sept. 29.
Cooler air will filter in for the middle part of this week, with temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday staying in the 60s before seeing a return of much warmer weather toward the weekend. Likely, we get back into the 70s to 80s for the upcoming weekend, with bountiful sunshine.

In the South Atlantic, Hurricane Humberto, still a major storm, will continue to move north and then eventually curve around Bermuda during the middle part of the week. This could bring some rough surf to our coastline at that time, but that would be the only impact.
Greater Boston: Look for Sunshine the next couple of days. On Tuesday, there will be a few clouds blending in. Temperatures will be 75 to 80 on Monday and then the low to mid-70s on Tuesday.
Southeastern Mass.: Look for sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-70s to start the work week. It will be in the lower 70s with partly sunny skies on Tuesday as temperatures start in the 50s.
Central/Western Mass.: Abundant sunshine begins our work week. Temperatures will be in the 50s in the morning and mid-70s each afternoon with a few puffy clouds on Tuesday.
Cape and Islands: Temperatures will be within a few degrees of 75 on Monday afternoon, along with a few afternoon clouds and sunshine. Sun blends with clouds on Tuesday with highs in the low 70s.
Rhode Island: Look for highs in the mid- to upper 70s with a few afternoon clouds on Monday. Partly sunny on Tuesday with temperatures in the mid-70s.
New Hampshire: After a bit of patchy fog early Monday, it will become sunny and warm with highs near 80. Sunny on Tuesday with highs in the mid-70s.
