Summer keeps rolling! We’ve got another day in the 80s ahead on Monday.
The record to beat in Boston is 86 degrees, and 85 in Worcester, but we should fall short of these values. Nonetheless, some other towns or cities will be near those highs as the warmest weather of this stretch settles in on Monday. Steady southwest winds mean cooler 70s are expected over southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod.
A few clouds, higher humidity and a slightly cooler airmass will knock us back on Tuesday, but not by much. This should be our last day in the 80s, however, as the rain swarms in by Wednesday.

Guidance has been all over the place regarding how much rain we may see. There is a batch of rain and water vapor stewing around in the Mid-South that is due to merge with our approaching cold front. When that merger is complete is the ten-thousand-dollar question.
Some projections show the highest rain totals on Cape Cod and the Islands, while others show it to be across MetroWest and the Merrimack Valley. This could mean the difference between seeing a quarter inch of rain or an inch and a quarter. Obviously, stakes are high in this drought.

Sharply colder air will make headway into New England on Thursday. Despite the sun, we’ll only hang in the upper 50s. A hard, killing freeze is likely in most spots (but not likely in downtown Boston) on Friday morning.
Our next hopes for a solid rain hinge on a developing coastal storm late this week. We’re certain the rain should move up through the Mid-Atlantic, but uncertain how much will weasel into New England by the weekend and beyond. For what it’s worth, AI guidance is showing a windswept rain moving in late Sunday and continuing until early Tuesday. There is a lot to play out in the coming days.
Have a great week!
