
This fall has both kinds of theater: The Scottish Play and musicals about Lizard Boy.
OK, there are at least a couple more types of theater. Thankfully this season really does have it all including Shakespeare, opera, dramatic classics, Broadway musicals, and the aforementioned “Lizard Boy.”
“Food Bank Influencer”
Sept. 19 – 21, Paramount Center

“Our Town”
Sept. 19 – Oct. 19, Lyric Stage
Thornton Wilder’s masterpiece brings to life the little New England town of Grover’s Corners and its warmth, sadness, and secret yearnings. “Hamilton”
Sept. 23 – Nov. 2, Citizens Opera House
“Hamilton” transforms Alexander Hamilton’s life into an extended metaphor about the contemporary and eternal struggle of disenfranchised citizens, and the moral imperative to join together and fight for the justice of those citizens. “Macbeth”

Two great local arts organizations bring Boston very different versions of Shakespeare’s timeless Scottish play about a bloodthirsty madman’s blunt, naive quest for power. “Lizard Boy”
Oct. 24 – Nov. 22, Boston Center for the Arts
This indie rock musical follows a first date into a funny, fresh, comic book adventure and coming-of-age story. With book, track and lyrics from Justin Huertas, “Lizard Boy” scored three Drama Desk nominations and rave reviews in its journey from the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to Off Broadway to Boston. speakeasystage.com
“Kim’s Convenience”
Nov. 6 – 23, Calderwood Pavilion
This warm and funny play about a Korean family’s convenience store served as the inspiration for the anthem Netflix series. This Boston run will feature playwright Ins Choi in the title role, the family father running his Toronto store at the crossroads of two cultures and generations. huntingtontheatre.org
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”
Nov. 9 – Dec. 20, Emerson Colonial
