The Callahan Tunnel in Boston will be closed overnight two days next week, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said Tuesday.
The closures will take place from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9, and Wednesday, Sept. 10, according to MassDOT.
Drivers on Interstate 93 southbound will be directed toward Exit 16B on Purchase Street, to the Surface Artery, and ultimately eastbound through the Ted Williams Tunnel.
“These overnight closures are required so that crews can complete maintenance work safely and effectively on the North End’s Richmond Street Bridge,” MassDOT wrote in a press release.
The department noted that the work is weather-dependent and subject to change.
Travelers can dial 511 or visit www.mass511.com for real-time traffic conditions, MassDOT said.
