This absurd bit from the clip got fans manic for season 23. Dietzen is doing squats while spitting out some wild medical-terminology-laced dialogue that references just how difficult it is to say difficult dialogue his character is pretty much always working with. Captioning this was “Warming-up for season 23. 🏌🏻♂️ Who’s ready for October 14th? #NCIS.”

The short comedic clip sees Dietzen doing physical exercises together with vocal exercises, joking that the talking in the autopsy scenes on the show requires the brain and body to keep up. His inevitable stumble-through-of-words and self-aware laughter definitely give off an “I just need to get through this” vibe that longtime fans of the character will understand. A perfect way to ramp up hype with a cheeky nod to all the hard work going on behind the scenes.
Responses came immediately, flooding the comments section with positivity, many of whom expressed their eagerness for the new season. “Me!!! I’m still binge-watching several seasons back,” one said. And that is only a testament to how long running the show is and its fanbase that has been standing with it for more than two decades. Another witty fan remarked, “I would think your warm up would be ‘if a woodchuck could chuck would’. So give us the inside scoop have you ever had to hide a cheat note to get through the medical jargon?” This witty remark strikes at something I am sure lots of people have wondered: How do the actors offer with all the technical jibber-jabber?
Even CBS Studios joined the conversation with its comment, “putting in the WORK 👏.” Brian Dietzen then replied to commend the efforts. Another fan called him “the autopsy gremlin in his natural habitat,” which is a fitting moniker for Jimmy Palmer, whose awkward-yet-charming existence has been iconic in that morgue.
One fan issued a somewhat romantic wish for Dietzen’s character: “please get back together with Knight. Victoria should lock you two both in a room and let you out when you are back together.” This is evidence of how much the audience cares about the personal lives of their characters, which is something that NCIS has always done well, balancing with the procedural.
In a further public compliment, a fan said, “You do a hell of a job convincing us you know what you’re saying 😂,” praising Dietzen’s ability to seemingly effortlessly deliver heavy technical dialogue as if it were straightforward everyday language. An Argentine fan wrote in Spanish with a message that translates to “From Argentina, I love your role, excellent 👏,” which is proof of NCIS’s cross-border popularity and the diverse nature of their fandom.
Commenters began to get flirtatious and funny, “I’d let you doctor me up,” while others stuck to spermicidal comedy: “Sir… doing squats to pronounce big words is a fib and a thirst trap! Well done.” A mixture of humor, adulation, and good-natured ribbing is pretty much par for the course on social media interactions with TV stars, but the dynamic works particularly well with Dietzen, who has been playing this really Close to his very Adult version for several decades.
On the other hand, a fan got a little mixed up with the dates: “October 14th?!??!! That’s tomorrow. 😂😂😂 I can’t wait 😊😊😊 hurry up already 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️ ✌️✌️✌️😅😅😅,” which could very well have been a hilarious mistake or pure wishful thinking, depending on when they actually saw that post; The season premiere date is treading presently on October 14th much to the delight of the fans themselves.
Since NCSI started in 2003, it has been something of an American television staple. Despite the changes in casts and the evolution in storyline, the show has still managed to keep its own loyal audience. Brian Dietzen, who synchronized with the show in 2004, grew in stature to become a Series Regular. His character was an awkward assistant at first and slowly transformed into a confident chief medical examiner. These behind-the-scenes videos and interaction with fans on social media keep the show’s spirit alive after 23 seasons.

With the new season immediately on its way, excitement is currently nearing its peak. Whether catching up on episodes or counting down the days to the premiere, there could be nothing more fitting to remind one why they always tune in than Dietzen’s impromptu scenic outlook on “warming up”: they are family to one another and someone who is close to the characters and loves bringing them to life. From this brushout for season 23, it seems NCIS is here for a while.
