
One of the recent stars of Wicked on Broadway has revealed surprising information about the movie adaptation and how the stage cast is not allowed to be involved in promoting the films.
Mary Kate Morrissey, who is pictured here during a recent appearance with Kristin Chenoweth, played Elphaba on Broadway from March 2024 to March 2025 and starred in the show when the first movie was released last year.

“I’m opening my [TikTok] feed and it’s all like, Wicked promo stuff for the movie, because it’s about to come out, and something I think is interesting is that when you’re in the cast, you’re not allowed to do any partnership, collaboration, or promotions with the movie,” Mary Kate said in her TikTok video.
She continued, “We couldn’t influence. There was no creating happening around that. We had to say no to everything. But I’m no longer with Wicked on Broadway, so…”
