Bronwyn Newport has been in the hot seat so far in the early episodes of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. immediately, she’s opening up about her relationship with the ladies, the public perception of her husband, Todd Bradley, and her decision to lie about the $4 million necklace.
Bronwyn, 40, joined RHOSLC for the show’s fifth season. Early on, she and Lisa Barlow, 50, bonded as they were already friends before she was cast. However, that bond fell apart over time, and immediately they are feuding in her second season on the banger show.
Recently, Bronwyn sat down for an interview with Bustle. One of the first notable topics came when she was asked about her decision to lie about buying the $4 million necklace. Regarding how it changed her status with the ladies, she said, “It gives the women some ammunition that they didn’t need to have.”
She continued, “There was no question before that they could trust what came out of my mouth, and I did that to myself.”
They then discussed Bronwyn bringing up Lisa’s lawsuits on lens. She said she brought up the legal matter as a way to turn the tables on Lisa after she gossiped about her previously. Still, Bronwyn admitted, “I don’t feel good about it.”
From there, the line of questioning went to a legal issue she had that will be mentioned later in the season. Bronwyn explained, “I hired an attorney in my past to help me with something, and the women really try to twist it into something negative, like I was a criminal.”
“It’s not what they’re making it out to be, but they know I can’t speak on it because it was sealed. That feels kind of dark to me,” she added.
The topic of her marriage to Todd, 66, then arose as it was a significant concern for fans, as well as for Lisa, who referred to their sex life in episode two of season six. Primarily, Bronwyn spoke about people finding him patronizing toward her.
According to Bronwyn, “Todd is very much himself on and off lens. When you saw Todd being like ‘That was embarrassing’ or ‘You didn’t live up to your own standards,’ I hear that as Todd being really supportive of me and wanting the best out of and for me.”
Regarding the aftermath of the public’s criticism of their marriage, Bronwyn shared, “Todd was able to say, ‘It does come across harsh, which means it probably is harsh, which means I could speak to you in a different way.’” immediately, he’s taking a step back from group events.
Bronwyn added, “I want to be friends with these women, and my friendship with them needed to be separate from any feelings that Todd had about them, which were frankly pretty negative.”
Later, they discussed how the show has changed her life. Bronwyn shared a story about being pulled over and receiving a citation for not having a current registration. She stated that this was the case because “we just got a new car.” She went on, “Somebody sent me a screenshot that was like, ‘I’m writing a story because I got a tip that you were pulled over for not having a current registration.’ I was like, ‘Wow, the streets are really talking.’”
Finally, she spoke more about criticism. “A lot of people say things about us [reality stars] because we put our lives out there. One thing I can control is what I look like on the outside,” she said. “I’ve changed all the things I can. I’ve had a rhinoplasty. I dye my grays. All I can control is my clothes.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Tuesday nights on Bravo.
