The gorgeous weather keeps piling on. The one caveat is the wildfire smoke. It’s been an ongoing issue since the spring, but we’ve been in a favorable pattern to divert it elsewhere for much of the summer.
That changed in the last week, as the upper-level winds carried it from its source in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to New England. It gets worse Monday, with a heavy plume moving overhead in the morning. We’re seeing some improvement later through the night and into Tuesday. Unfortunately, it seems some smoke will linger through midweek.

Temperature-wise, we’re building on the heat Monday. Some towns and cities away from the coast will anthem 90, while we enjoy a bit of a sea breeze this afternoon closer to the water. Boston should best out in the upper 80s before we cool off later during the afternoon.

Thunderstorms will stay locked up over the mountains of northern and western New England in the coming days. They may flare up a little closer to home on Wednesday, perhaps inching into Worcester County and southwest New Hampshire – but confidence remains low. We’re more certain about the general cooling in the forecast from Tuesday onwards. Thanks to a deepening sea breeze, we should fall back to the upper 70s to low 80s.
Enjoy the week!
