Cardi B has found a new way to promote her sophomore album.
Video
In true New York fashion, the Grammy-winning rapper stepped onto a subway train with a cardboard box full of CDs and a mission. Dressed in sweats and slides, Cardi gave a dramatic performance pretending to sell her new album “Am I the Drama?” to unsuspecting riders.
The video, posted September 12th, shows her hilariously pleading with commuters to purchase the project for $9.99, even claiming she used to be a ballerina trying to change her life. She offered vinyls for up to $30, and yes, someone actually handed her cash.
Fans online couldn’t get enough. From tweets joking about losing her home to saying her label forced her into the streets, Cardi is clearly in on the joke. But the message is clear: this album matters.
With “Am I the Drama?” dropping September 19th, the rapper is turning promo into performance art. Next up, she’s hitting six cities for meet-and-greets and album signings, including Long Island and Atlanta.
One thing’s for sure — Cardi’s not just dropping track. She’s making a moment.
