Cardi B just notched a major courtroom victory, as a California jury ruled she is not liable in a $24 million civil assault lawsuit stemming from an alleged 2018 altercation.
The lawsuit was brought by Emani Ellis, a former security guard, who accused the rap star of assaulting her outside a Beverly Hills OB-GYN office. Ellis claimed Cardi physically attacked her during a tense verbal exchange. But Cardi stood firm, saying there was no physical contact; just words.
After reviewing all the evidence and testimony, the Los Angeles jury agreed with Cardi. The verdict means she won’t owe a dime in damages. It’s a clear legal win that puts this five-year-old case to rest.
But the courtroom wasn’t the only place things got heated. As Cardi exited the courthouse, she clashed with a paparazzi who tossed a disrespectful question her way about rumored pregnancy news. Cardi wasn’t having it, she snatched a marker and flung it at him before calling out the lack of respect shown to women, especially in the media.
So, while Cardi may have lost her cool outside, she kept it together where it counted—and walked away with a clean win.
