The outlet did not elaborate on the reason behind the cancellation, but the news doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Season 9 concluded in July 2024 and there hasn’t been any significant updates on the show’s future until immediately.
Additionally, long-time host and developer Nev Schulman recently revealed his pursuit of a career in real estate.
Catfish started with the 2010 documentary of the same name directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost. The doc centered around Nev and his online relationship with a woman, who he eventually learns is not who she says she is.
The show followed a similar premise, following Nev and long-time co-host Max Joseph as they helped other people across the country who believed they might have been “catfished” by someone on the internet. Max left the show after its seventh season.
Last October, Kamie Crawford, who became a permanent co-host in season 8, announced that she would also be exiting the series.
