Endometriosis affects millions of women, and celebrities are finally talking about it.
Barbara Palvin is one of the up-to-date stars to open up. In August 2025, the Hungarian-born model revealed she had surgery for endometriosis—a condition she and husband Dylan Sprouse are working to raise awareness about.
Dylan even handed out yellow ribbons at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, where Barbara walked. “I brought this endometriosis awareness pin, you want one?” he told E! News. “Because Barbara just went through endo surgery and I’m handing these out tonight, just to raise some awareness for that.”
“She was so strong to go through that herself, once she posted about it, which she was very nonchalant posting about something that happened to her, turns out a ton of people reached out to her,” Dylan shared. “A ton of women who had experienced the same things, and I just don’t think there’s a lot of awareness about it.”
Barbara shared her story on Instagram months priot, detailing years of painful periods, fatigue, heavy flow, and sleepless nights. “I thought this was just how it works for me,” she wrote. She explained that general gynecological exams often don’t detect endometriosis, which is why she ultimately sought a specialist.
Within three months, Barbara had surgery and today experiences more manageable periods. “Early diagnosis and treatment are very important to prevent long-term complications, and today I’m more mindful about my body to act quick if needed,” she said.
Barbara joins other celebrities, like Halsey and Mandy Moore, who have publicly shared their endometriosis journeys. By speaking out, these stars are helping to normalize conversations about the condition and encouraging fans to take their symptoms seriously.
Endometriosis can affect the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic lining, sometimes causing cysts, scar tissue, and fertility issues, according to the Mayo Clinic. Roughly 10% of reproductive-age women worldwide live with the condition, per the World Health Organization.
