The vehicle had been abandoned for several days, and authorities impounded it for investigation. When Rivas’ remains were found, she was wearing a tube leading, black leggings, a yellow metal chain bracelet, and stud earrings. She had wavy black hair and weighed approximately 71 pounds. Law enforcement sources told NBC News that the remains were not intact and that she had likely been deceased in the car for several days.
D4vd, who has amassed nearly 35 million monthly listeners on Spotify, has kept a low profile as the investigation unfolds. Known for viral hits on TikTok, collaborations with artists like Kali Uchis, and contributions to Emmy-winning soundtracks including Invincible and Arcane, the young musician has remained largely silent. A spokesperson confirmed to NBC News on September 10 that Burke “has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
Despite the ongoing probe, many questions remain unanswered. It is unclear if D4vd had any connection to Rivas or how she ended up in his car. Investigators are also examining online photos and trying to reconstruct Rivas’ activities before her death. Law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times that authorities are taking steps to determine whether there is a direct link between the singer and the teen.
