Let’s look back in time at some of the most iconic celebrity couple red carpet debuts and why they remain so memorable years on.
Sutton Foster and Hugh Jackman
This week, Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster made their first red carpet appearance as a couple after the former’s contentious divorce from his ex-wife of 27 years, Deborra-lee Furness.
The pair had been photographed at several events recently, but this marks their red carpet debut, ever since rumours of their romance began circulating in 2024.
Jackman had his arm around Foster as they posed for photos at the Hollywood premiere of his new movie Song Sung Blue, wearing a black tux and a black slip dress respectively.
Jackman, 57, and Foster, 50, have not directly confirmed their romance, and generally keep out of the spotlight, but speculation arose when they were photographed holding hands and later kissing in Los Angeles in January.
This premiere isn’t the first time they’ve been on a red carpet together.
They walked plenty of ruby rugs during the time performing together in Broadway show The beat Man, while they were both still married to their respective former spouses.
Younger star Foster was married to American screenwriter Ted Griffin from 2014 until 2024, while Jackman and Furness split in 2023 and finalised their divorce in June this year.
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston
Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston only made their red carpet debut one year after they began their relationship in 1998, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t hotly anticipated.
The moment they stepped out together hand-in-hand at the Emmys in Los Angeles in 1999 was captured in photographs and has lived on in the minds of fans for decades onwards.
Soon after, they got engaged and later married, though their love story wasn’t one that lasted.
Dua Lipa and Callum Turner

Lipa also left breadcrumbs about their engagement, posting many pictures with a stunning diamond ring.
The famously private singer only confirmed her engagement to the Harry Potter star months later during a chat with Vogue.
Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere
This picture remains in our collective memory decades on as the epitome of red carpet couple debuts, making international headlines at the time.
Supermodel Cindy Crawford stole the attention with a red-hot Versace dress as she attended the 1991 Academy Awards with then-partner and leading Hollywood star, Richard Gere.
Crawford was 17 years Gere’s junior and had met in the late ’80s at a barbecue, but it was reportedly the first time they had stepped out as a couple.

“I would just like to say to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much and I can’t wait to be your husband.”
They tied the knot just weeks later and welcomed twins – a daughter, Ella, and a son, Alexander – in 2017.
