Mani Meraj Arrested: Police have arrested Mani Meraj, a well-known YouTuber from Bihar. On Saturday evening, Uttar Pradesh police captured him in Patna’s Anisabad neighbourhood. Vannu the Great, Mani Meraj’s purported lover, has accused him of various severe allegations, including rape, forced religious conversion, and mental abuse. A case was filed on this subject at the Khora police station in Uttar Pradesh.
Gardanibagh police station in charge Pramod Kumar stated that a team of UP police arrived in Patna and, with the assistance of local police, apprehended Mani Meraj at Anisabad. Following his arrest, he was kept at the Gardanibagh police station for preliminary interrogation. On Sunday, he appeared in court for transit remand so that he could be sent to Uttar Pradesh.
A look at Mani Meraj’s journey
Mani Meraj is originally from the Sahebganj block, which is around 55 kilometres from Muzaffarpur district. His narrative is about a young man who rose from humble beginnings to become a well-known YouTube personality. Initially, he worked as a chicken butcher before transitioning to create village-specific comedy videos. His rustic style and colloquialism rapidly made him popular on social media.
He became an IPL commentator
In recent years, he even constructed a luxury mansion in his village that cost crores of rupees. He was also spotted commentating in Bhojpuri on Jio Cinema for the 2025 IPL match between the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, which helped him gain even more recognition. His Bhojpuri film, which was recently released, marked his debut in the acting arena.
Mani Meraj-Vannu D-Great controversy
However, a few weeks ago, Avnnu D-Great, an actress, who worked with him filed a FIR against him in Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), alleging severe charges. In the FIR, the actress said that Mani Meraj forced her into a sexual connection with him under the guise of marriage and religious conversion, and subsequently misled her. Uttar Pradesh police arrested him on Saturday, October 4, in connection with this case.
