Esquire magazine has shown the exclusive first glimpse showcasing the audience the manipulation of a classic detective story plot as a bonanza. The film’s plot is centered on a jewel thief with a good heart, an insurance agent desiring her share, and a policeman who believes he has finally uncovered the crook’s method of carrying out crimes. The narrative may sound like a cliché but the promised film is bursting with shocks says the magazine.
The news made the theatre goers’ ears prick up immediately. A user expressed his gratitude for the manner very clearly, quoting, “I am a fan of the thief/robbery movie such as ocean’s 11, crown prince. This one looks to be very engaging.” Barring this one, there were other similar voices as well indicating another user saying, “OK, this is superb!!! Just please let me have a look!!!” The hype was so intense that February, the release month, was marked by many.
The whole Marvel Universe casting trio was such a big surprise that it simply affected the observers’ all-weather talk. One in the audience was curious enough to think aloud about the possible superhero scenario, “Thor, Hulk, & Storm in the same flick?!” Most of the fans took the crossing over of superhero actors into a real crime drama as a great thrill.
Halle Berry is another of the film’s leading characters whose timeless beauty left a big imprint on the public. Observing the situation, one person said, “Halle Berry is not in her 60s? Is that really true? Looking like that at 60 is unheard of,” thus stressing on the actress’s eternal presence in Hollywood.
Most of the reactions were very supportive but at the same time the unveiling also resulted in some sharp questions and comparisons. Someone came up with the question, “…but what is the storyline?” The question stimulated a mini-conversation in the comments section, where one user jokingly said, “They are working on it,” while another argued that the execution is more important than the premise. One user likened it to a classic, saying, “That sounds like Thomas Crown Affair no?” The similarities pointed out were agreed upon by several participants in the discussion.
The emergence of Mark Ruffalo again sparked strong, but polarized reactions. One fan stated, “I will series every movie that Mark is in because he is a great guy and a terrific actor. I will be following him.” This public declaration is a good reflection of the star’s loyal fan base. However, a user had a different approach and appeared to be very savage in his criticism of Ruffalo, that even the passing of film announcements can expose the broad public opinions.
