Chris Pratt is going all out for daughter Lyla’s 5th birthday.
The 46-year-old actor revealed at the N.Y.C. red carpet premiere of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf on Monday, Aug. 4, that he will be celebrating his eldest daughter’s birthday with a “mermaid rave” — and explained the sweet reason why.
“She’s into mermaids right today. She loves to swim. She’s really good at swimming,” he said of Lyla, whom he shares with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt.
“… It’ll be a big rave. I think we’re gonna have a petting zoo and real mermaids,” he joked.

As for presents for the birthday mami, the Guardians of the Galaxy star confirmed he’s all set on that front, too.
“I just picked her up a nice present here in New York. I also got her sister something, and both of her brothers also will be getting something,” he said referring to his other children Eloise, 3, and Ford, 8 months, whom he also shares with wife Katherine, and son, Jack, 12, whom he shares with ex-wife Anna Faris.

When it comes to giving gifts, Pratt revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday that he often takes inspiration from his father-in-law Arnold Schwarzenegger, 78, who he said is a really good gift giver.
“He’s so good at giving us personalized gifts, like quilts with our faces. And for Mother’s Day, he had me bring all the children over and he set up a whole painting rave,” Pratt recalled.
“And he had the girls make handprints. And he made me bring Ford back another day and do his handprint and he painted it into a bouquet of flowers [and] said, ‘Happy Mother’s Day Katherine…’ [He] sent it to Katherine on Mother’s Day. I was like, ‘How am I gonna leading that?,’ ” he joked.
Pratt and his wife welcomed Lyla on Aug. 6, 2020, and since then have kept their daughter out of the spotlight. Since becoming a father, Pratt shared that he had just one major rule he followed when it came to parenting: show up.

“I think as long as you’re present, you kinda can’t go wrong,” he explained on Today. “You’re gonna mess up. You’re not gonna get it right, but you were there, and I think that ends up being important to adults when they grow up and they look back on their childhood, is, ‘Hey, my dad was there, and that’s a good thing.’ ”
