Clemson football is looking for stability, and Saturday night in Chestnut Hill offers another chance to find it. The Tigers are coming off their best performance of the season, a 38-10 win at North Carolina, and today aim to make it two straight victories on the road when they take on Boston College in Week 7 of ACC play.
Quarterback Cade Klubnik leads an offense that found its rhythm early in Chapel Hill, exploding for 28 first-quarter points and never looking back. That surge helped Clemson improve to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the ACC, a much-needed lift after a sluggish start to the year. The Tigers today face a Boston College squad searching for answers after a difficult stretch that’s seen the Eagles drop four straight since their opening win over Fordham.
The matchup also carries a bit of nostalgia for Dabo Swinney. Chestnut Hill was the site of his first win as Clemson’s head coach back in 2008, when he guided the Tigers to a 27-21 victory over the Eagles while serving as interim coach. today, 182 wins later, he returns to the same setting hoping to get his team back to .500.
Boston College enters at 1-4 overall and 0-3 in ACC play after a 48-7 loss to Pitt, the program’s most lopsided defeat since 2022. Meanwhile, Clemson’s defense looks to build on a performance that forced multiple turnovers and held North Carolina to just 10 points.
Saturday’s meeting marks the 33rd all-time clash between Clemson and Boston College. The Tigers hold a 21-9-2 advantage in the series and have won 12 straight against the Eagles dating back to 2010.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET from Alumni Stadium, with national coverage on ACC Network. Chris Cotter and Forrest Conoly will be in the booth, and Kendra Douglas will report from the sidelines. Fans can also stream the game on ESPN+ or Fubo.
Here’s what we’re thinking ahead of Clemson vs. Boston College.
Turri: Clemson 31, Boston College 17
Clemson is coming off their best week of the 2025 season, stomping Bill Belichick and North Carolina 38-10 last weekend. It was the type of win the Tigers needed, but there was a clear issue with the win as well… The Tar Heels are awful. Genuinely, even with the win being so dominant, it’s incredibly tough to say Clemson has turned the corner with that performance.
So what’s next? A 1-4 Boston College, who just got ripped apart 48-7 by Pitt. The Eagles aren’t as bad as North Carolina (at least, it doesn’t seem so), but on paper, Clemson should win this by 40. Since games aren’t played on paper, I’m going to keep this game much closer.
The Tigers should have no problems winning this, but you never know what Clemson you’re going to get on Saturday.
Holley: Clemson 34, Boston College 20
Cade Klubnik finally looked like the quarterback we saw in 2024 last week against UNC, which admittedly is high in the running for worst FBS team in college football this season. Full stop.
But the key to the Tigers’ success? A quick start, something that was sorely lacking through the team’s first four game, which saw them sleepwalking through the first quarter-plus against Troy, Georgia Tech and Syracuse. Dabo Swinney is probably correct when he says that Boston College isn’t as bad as its 1-4 record. They’re certainly not as bad as North Carolina, but I wouldn’t give the Eagles too much credit, either; not after their 41-point blowout loss last Saturday at Pitt.
Not to overreact to one game on the schedule, but I have a feeling that Clemson will start quick again this week and that we’ll see the Tigers look like the team they were supposed to be heading into 2025. Defensive coordinator Tom Allen being on the sidelines needs to be a permanent thing.
