Actor Colman Domingo wears full drag in pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter‘s new “Tears” beat video that takes its inspiration from “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
Sabrina plays Susan Sarandon’s character, Janet Weiss. Colman plays Dr. Frank-N-Furter, the mad scientist and transvestite character played to perfection by Tim Curry in the 1975 horror comedy film.

There’s a myth that Hollywood tries to destroy the masculinity of Black actors by putting them in dresses. Over 70 Black actors – from Flip Wilson to Eddie Murphy – have worn dresses in TV shows and movies.
Comedian Dave Chappelle commented on the conspiracy theory in a sit-down interview.
“I mean, I’m a conspiracy theorist to a degree,” Dave said. “I connect dots that maybe shouldn’t be connected. I don’t know, but certain dots, like when I see they put every Black man in movies in a dress at some point in their career, I be connecting.”
Donnell Rawlings, Dave’s co-star on the Comedy Central TV series Chappelle’s Show, told BET he wore a dress to audition for the movie Holiday Heart.
“I didn’t get [the part], so I auditioned in a dress. I was like, I would never repeat that,” he told BET. “So I would have to say I agree, support and will follow Dave Chappelle’s lead in saying I would never dress in drag for Hollywood or anybody.”
