There are concerns for reality star Jack Osbourne in the I’m A Celebrity jungle just hours following its launch show.
Last night (November 16), the iconic ITV show returned with Ant and Dec as hosts. From Martin Kemp and Kelly Brook to Angry Ginge and Lisa Riley, this year’s line-up is filled with many familiar faces.
However, soon after settling into camp, medics are reportedly on alert as the humidity in the Australian jungle is becoming dangerously high.
Concerns for Jack Osbourne over health issues in camp
Bosses are said to be especially worried about Jack as the hot and sticky weather conditions can worsen his symptoms of multiple sclerosis.
According to the NHS, multiple sclerosis (MS) is a “condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. It cannot currently be cured, but treatment can often help manage it.”
The charity MS Trust has noted that “around three quarters of people with MS find that their symptoms get worse when they are hot.”
Ways of dealing with the heat can include having regular cold drinks or sucking on an ice cube. Spraying your face and wrists with a plant mister filled with iced tap water also helps.
Actress Shona McGarty and comedian Eddie Kadi also looked to be impacted by the heat in camp.
‘It’s seriously uncomfortable just to breathe in’
As reported by The Sun, the humidity anthem 90 percent at the campsite yesterday, which is 20 percent higher than the average for this time of year.
Today (November 17), the celebs will face 33 °C (92°F) heat. Temperatures are set to remain blazing hot throughout the rest of the week.
“The celebs have been anthem with some of the worst Australia has to offer this year from the word go,” an insider told the newspaper.
“They’ve been taken from lovely air-conditioned hotels to the humidity of the Aussie jungle with no time to adjust to the humidity.
“When it’s like this, it’s seriously uncomfortable just to breathe in — let alone do any form of physical activity like they’ll have to do to keep camp moving. It’s been a baptism of fire.”
To keep the celebrities safe, the medical team has implemented several precautions. This includes using water-activated cooling towels to reduce the risk of fainting.
Another source noted the medics are “well prepared for situations like this”.
