Condolences: Grammy-Winning Producer Sidney ‘Omen’ Brown, Known For Work w/ Beyoncé & Drake, Has Passed Away At 49
Very sad news.
Sidney “Omen” Brown, the Grammy-winning producer celebrated for shaping hits with Beyoncé, Drake, and Lil Wayne, has passed away at 49.
His mother, Martha Brown, confirmed the heartbreaking news after a relative discovered his body in his Harlem apartment. Staff at Barawine Harlem, a wine bar where he worked for over a decade, had grown concerned when he failed to report for duty.
“It is with shock and deep sadness we have heard about the passing of our dear friend,” the restaurant shared. “There are not enough words to express our feelings.”
Brown’s musical career took flight in the 2000s, working with Roc-A-Fella staples like Mýa and Fabolous. He earned his first Grammy for producing “Tell It Like It Is” on Ludacris’ “Release Therapy” album. His later credits include co-producing Drake’s “Shut It Down” and Beyoncé’s “Mine” featuring Drake.
Ethyl’s Bar, where he also DJed, remembered him as “a friend and family member” who will be deeply missed by all.
His cause of d*ath has not yet been revealed.
Prayers to his loved ones during this trying time.
