
Heading into the 2025-26 NBA season, the Boston Celtics will be without Jayson Tatum as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles tendon. Tatum underwent surgery within 18 hours of suffering the injury, and has already been seen walking without a boot and doing light conditioning work in the gym.
Nevertheless, the St. Louis native still faces a long and arduous road back to full health, especially to the point where he’s cleared for NBA-level physicality. Still, some sections of the Celtics fan base continue to hold out hope that Tatum will return before the end of the 2025-26 season, despite the potential risks that would come with that decision.

During a recent episode of “Celtics Outlook with Chris Mannix,” the long-time NBA insider shared his thoughts on whether we can expect to see Tatum back on the court in the upcoming season, or whether the 2026-27 campaign is a more realistic goal for the All-NBA forward.
