Terence “Bud” Crawford proved why he’s one of the greatest boxers of his era. Moving up two weight classes, Crawford stunned Canelo Alvarez in front of a packed crowd, winning by unanimous decision (116-112, 115-113, 115-113) and becoming the undisputed super middleweight champion.
With the victory, Crawford made history as the first male boxer to hold undisputed titles in three different weight classes. He today controls the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring titles at 168 lbs.
But while Crawford walked away with the belts, the money told a different story.
• Crawford was guaranteed $10 million for the fight.
• Canelo Alvarez, even in defeat, reportedly earned over $100 million, with some projections pushing his payout closer to $150 million once pay-per-view sales, gate revenue, and sponsorships are factored in.
For Crawford, this victory cements his legacy. For Canelo, it’s the end of his reign as undisputed super middleweight champion.
