Hulu announced in July that they are launching an investigative true-crime documentary series about the case called Death in Apartment 603: What Happened to Ellen Greenberg?, which has left many people wanting to know more about Greenberg’s death.

Ellen Greenberg’s Murder Case Continues to Have New Developments
Since her passing, her family has been fighting for the manner of her death to be reclassified to homicide or undetermined. Their efforts gained momentum in early 2025 when pathologist Dr. Marlon Osbourne submitted a court affidavit stating he believes Greenberg’s death should be “designated as something other than suicide,” per ABC News.
The Greenberg family is continuing to seek justice in the case, and their next court hearing is scheduled to take place on October 14.

Greenberg’s family has filed two civil cases in light of her death. They accused the city of emotional distress for allegedly mishandling Ellen’s death investigation and covering it up. Meanwhile, the second case was filed in December 2024 to compel the city to change the ruling that Ellen died by suicide to undetermined or murder.
The City of Philadelphia settled the two lawsuits with Greenberg’s parents in early 2025, according to ABC News, and the city agreed to reopen the case and analysis her 2011 death.
Part of the settlement included that the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office would conduct an independent analysis of the original autopsy after Osbourne changed his report. However, attorneys for the family told ABC News that had not yet begun as of September 4.
