Delta Air Lines has bolstered capacity on ten routes out of Boston around Patriots’ Day next year, including flights to Panama City, Florida, for the first time. The carrier has added 40 additional flights during the second half of April 2026, which will be flown by both mainline Delta and Delta Connection.
This will increase connectivity from Boston to sunny getaways in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia during the holiday travel period, adding almost 6,000 extra seats to ten popular destinations, which include Charleston, Jacksonville, Orlando, Savannah and West Palm Beach.
Delta Boosts Boston Patriots’ Day Flights
The airline is anticipating significant demand for travel during Boston’s Patriots’ Day holiday season next year. As such, it has added a total of 40 flights out of Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) on April 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 and 26. Patriots’ Day falls on the third Monday of April each year, which would be April 20 in 2026 – the celebration is to commemorate the beginning of the American Revolutionary War in April 1775.
Seven of the ten routes are to Florida destinations (including a new route in Panama City), two are to South Carolina, and one to Georgia. With cold snaps and plenty of rain falling in the early spring around Boston, the airline says this will help its customers “escape the lingering chill of New England spring and enjoy warm-weather getaways.” The ten routes that will get extra flights are as follows:
- Panama City, (ECP)
- Charleston (CHS)
- Jacksonville (JAX)
- Orlando (MCO)
- Myrtle Beach (MYR)
- West Palm Beach (PBI)
- Pensacola (PNS)
- Fort Myers (RSW)
- Savannah (SAV)
- Sarasota (SRQ)
Amy Martin, Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, commented,
“Patriots’ Day is a uniquely Boston celebration, and we’re excited to offer nearly 6,000 additional seats on flights out of Boston to give our customers even more ways to make the most of the long weekend.”
Patriots’ Day Travel Rush
Patriots’ Day typically sees people go away for a long weekend, so travel demand usually picks up on the Thursday or Friday prior to the third Monday of April. The Boston Marathon is one of the holiday’s most famous events and falls on Patriots’ Day, and is one of the main drivers of travel into Boston during that period.
Passengers flying around the Patriots’ Day holiday are advised to allocate extra time to reach the airport and pass through check-in and security due to how busy it gets. The roads around Boston can get particularly congested on your way to the airport, while security checks are also likely to take longer.
Fortunately, the Easter travel rush will not coincide with Patriots’ Day in 2026, helping to ease congestion at airports. In 2026, Easter Sunday will be on April 5th, more than two weeks before Patriots’ Day. However, the two holidays did overlap in 2025, with Easter Sunday falling on April 20th, just a day before Patriots’ Day.
Delta’s Boston Operations
Delta is Boston Logan’s second-largest carrier behind JetBlue with a market share of over 20%. It currently operates up to 165 peak daily departures, connecting Boston with 62 destinations, including 11 international airports. While the majority of its international services are seasonal, it offers year-round flights to key European cities like Amsterdam, London and Paris.
The airline primarily operates out of Boston Logan’s Terminal A, although some of its services also go from Terminal E. Customers can benefit from streamlined services to improve the airport experience, including BOS biometric boarding and bag-drop options. Boston also has three of its renowned Delta Sky Clubs at the airport, including two in Terminal A and a fairly new facility in Terminal E (which also includes a Delta One Lounge inside), launched in 2023.
Only JetBlue has a larger presence at Boston Logan, with the airline serving over 70 destinations, both domestic and international. Delta, which calls itself Boston’s No. 1 premium global airline, has over 2,000 Bay State-based employees and has partnered with dozens of local organizations to invest in the Bostonian community.
