Diddy’s Lawyer Claims Trump Pardon Was Discussed, But Sources Say Legal Team Wasn’t Involved + Personal Allies Reportedly Made The Call
The mystery deepens!
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team is denying that they formally sought a pardon from Donald Trump. While attorney Nicole Westmoreland told CNN, “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon,” sources tell PEOPLE that no direct outreach was made by his legal team.
“People in Diddy’s world and orbit are reaching out… but not his legal team,” one insider said. “They are aware it’s happening.”
Rolling Stone previously reported that allies of Combs approached Trump-linked operatives with large offers, some in the mid-six figures, in exchange for help securing a pardon.
However, several sources close to Diddy disputed those claims.
“This is such bullsh*t,” one source said. “I don’t think any of this is true.”
Westmoreland, however, told Piers Morgan, “I think being pardoned would be the right thing to do. We’re hopeful.”
Combs, convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution but acquitted of more serious charges, faces up to 20 years. His sentencing is scheduled for October 3. He remains jailed after multiple denied bail motions. His team plans to appeal.
