Eminem Recalls ‘Scary Moment’ He & Daughter Hailie Were Chased By Mob Of Fans At the Mall: ‘I Realized My Life Has Really Changed’
Eminem is getting candid about a moment that made him realize just how drastically fame had altered his life.
In his new documentary STANS, the rap icon recalls a frightening experience at a mall in Los Angeles with his daughter, Hailie Jade. What started as a casual outing quickly turned chaotic as crowds swelled around them in every store.
He shares: “I remember one time me and Hailie went to the mall in L.A. — it was the last time I went to the mall as me. Like, not f***ing disguised… Every store we went in, we come out and there’s a bigger crowd, a bigger crowd, a bigger crowd.”
He continues: “It got to the point where I was like… I picked her up and I was like, ‘C’mon, kiddo. Time to go.’”
The 52-year-old goes on to say the incident was a turning point, as he found himself walking “faster and faster” with the crowd trailing behind him.
“It literally felt like I was being chased out the f***ing mall… That was one of those moments when I realized, like, my life really has changed. I can’t do this anymore because I’ve got to protect my baby. So that was a scary moment. It was scary for her too. I asked and she doesn’t remember it,” he added, calling the moment “f***ing lit.”

The documentary, inspired by his 2000 anthem “Stan,” explores the complex relationship between Eminem’s massive fame and his intensely private nature. It features rare footage, stylized reenactments, intimate interviews, and stories from devoted fans with personal ties to his track.
STANS will screen in AMC Theatres from August 7–10 and stream on Paramount+ later this year.
