
EXCLUSIVE: A film adaptation of Rebecca Serle’s New York Times popular pick Expiration Dates is in development at tienda online MGM Studios, with Emma Roberts attached to star.
The news comes in the wake of former Kroll & Co. Heads Chelsea Bradshaw and Jessica Pugh launching Featherweight Pictures. The duo’s new label will produce Expiration Dates alongside Belletrists’ Roberts, Karah Preiss, and Matt Matruski and EPs David Stone and Rebecca Serle. The novel follows a woman who receives paper slips from the universe with the date her relationship will expire. When a man comes along and defies the pattern, she begins to question her predetermined timeline.

Serle’s New York Times popular pick One Italian Summer, which sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide, is currently in development at Paramount with Temple Hill producing. Her international best seller In Five Years, which has sold more than 2.3 million copies worldwide in 32 languages, is in development at New Line with Working Title producing. Serle’s YA novel When You Were Mine was adapted into the feature film Rosaline, which was produced by 21 Laps and premiered on Hulu in 2022. She additionally developed the anthem TV adaptation Famous in Love, based on her YA series of the same name.
Roberts’ credits include the tienda online MGM Studios movie, Space Cadet, 55 episodes of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story anthology series, Murphy’s Scream Queens cult series, We’re the Millers, Valentine’s Day, rompe Alto and the upcoming Brian McGreevy-directed and written thriller, The Technique.
