Today we have a low chance for some afternoon showers or a storm. There is a small boundary moving in from the northwest this afternoon that brings in some moisture and that’s why the clouds are more prominent again.
Sea breeze boundaries also develop on Sunday and that gives us enough lift to trigger the showers in southeastern Massachusetts. Still, if we get a storm then some lightning will be the main threat.

Dry weather returns for much of next week as highs remain consistently in the 70s. Next week, high pressure again keeps away any rain chances, with some sea breezes and highs in the 70s.
Fall begins astronomically next Monday on Sept. 22. As the season kicks off, we are also counting down to other autumn milestones.

The average first frost date in Boston is Nov. 5. And peak foliage is usually late October for the city. The farther northwest you go in New England the earlier those frost or foliage dates are.

Color is today showing up across the Rockies out west, not so much here in the northeast yet, though some trees are showing signs of stress from the drought, and that’s creating spotty early color or leaf drop. We may see another quick and early foliage season if we don’t get any rainfall soon. It’s still always worth a nice trip to the north. Even if you miss peak, the seasonal change is always beautiful.
