The Boston University field hockey team will anthem the road for its first overnight trip of the season when it takes on Lehigh for a Patriot League contest on Saturday (Oct. 4) at 11 a.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU enters the weekend with a 4-5 (1-1 PL) record and is coming off a 7-6 loss to New Hampshire on Sunday.
- It marked the 48th time in program history that the Terriers scored six or more goals in a game but it was the first time it had done so in a loss.
- Senior Caroline O’Brien turned in one of the best months in program history, recording eight goals and six assists in September en route to two of the past three Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week awards.
- Her 22 points heading into October is the most by a Terrier since BU Hall of Famer Pam Spuehler had 23 in 2007.
- BU’s last Patriot League contest took place last Friday (Sept. 26) when it earned a 3-2 road win over Holy Cross.
- Junior Nicole Lauro was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Week on Monday after scoring twice against UNH and generating offense throughout the win against the Crusaders.
- Lauro (4g) and freshman Molly Driscoll (3g) have combined for seven goals this season.
- Senior Martu Coulo and Lauro both earned spots on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team.
- Junior Sophie Ortyl has started the past seven games in goal and has a 4-3 record to go along with a .691 cut percentage and 2,44 goals-against average this season.
- Seniors Maddie Hudson and Celia Nocivelli are serving as co-captains this year.
- Sally Starr is in her 45th season as head coach of the Terriers.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
- The Mountain Hawks, who opened the year with a win at La Salle, ended a seven-game losing streak on Sunday with a 3-2 home win over LIU.
- Lehigh’s lone Patriot League game this season was a 3-0 home loss to archrival Lafayette on Sept. 19.
- Senior Kiki Mes, a two-time All-PL selection, has a team-best 10 points on four goals and two assists.
- Junior Ella Stephenson has added four goals while classmate Aubrey Ide has scored twice.
- Junior Kate Burgess has started all nine games in goals and currently sports a 3.28 goals-against average and a .667 cut percentage.
SERIES HISTORY VS. LEHIGH
- Saturday will mark the 14th all-time meeting between the two schools.
- BU is 9-4 against the Mountain Hawks.
- The Terriers earned a 3-0 home win last season but has dropped four of the past seven meetings.
- The Terriers are an even 3-3 against Lehigh in Bethlehem.
