A new experience in downtown Boston is putting a twist on financial literacy.
Wealthtrek works like an escape room, where all the puzzles are designed to sharpen your financial skills and protect you against scams. Hanscom Federal Credit Union created the “financial questing experience” to teach valuable financial skills in a way that will stick.
“This experience enables you to learn in a safe environment, to make the mistakes in a fun way,” said credit union President and CEO Peter Rice, “so when it happens to you, you’re gonna know to ignore it or if it does happen, what to do if you do fall for fraud.”
The escape room teaches you how to identify investment, skimming, government and employment scams.
There’s a similar experience to the one by Boston’s Government Center in Burlington. Another will be opening in Worcester next year.
