Heavy rain fell Wednesday morning as a cold front swept through, and it brought tons of leaf drop, so series for slick spots on the roads with leaves over the puddles.
Temps stay in the 60s then drop to the 50s Wednesday evening across Boston. The dewpoints continue to lower as the gusty northwest wind remains strong, about 20-30 mph, through Wednesday night.

Overnight lows drop to the 30s north and in the suburbs, 40s in the city. Highs leading off in the 50s for Thursday afternoon with lots of sun as high pressure builds into the northeast.

Our coldest morning in southern New England this season will be Friday, with lows in the 20s to 30s. This means an end to the growing season will be likely inland, and patchy frost at the coast — time to bring in the last of the summer crops, potted tropical flowers or plants, or cover any flowering bushes you want to cut.

We anticipate that the cooler air is here to stay through the weekend and beyond. Highs stay in the 50s to 60s through this weekend and next week.
We’re watching a possible coastal storm developing and moving up the East Coast. Guidance shows that it may stall to our south, and could even miss us for the most part (bringing only a graze of rain and wind south).
On the other hand, if the storm tracks farther north, near Long Island Sound Sunday to early next week, then we’re dealing with gusty wind, heavy rain and minor coastal flooding, with wave heights of 10 feet or more.

The slowness of this storm is concerning, too, as it may lead to multiple tide cycles of coastal flooding and erosion as we come off of astronomically high tides this week due to the full moon. Stay tuned for more updates on this potential nor’easter.
