A Florida man named Craig Vogt has been arrested after he was accused of killing and eating two of his pet peacocks following a dispute with his neighbor.
The neighbor found a letter in her mailbox detailing how the birds had been decapitated, bled out and cooked in a frying pan, according to a criminal complaint viewed by People on Monday, September 29.
Deputies were called to the scene in Hudson, a community located about 40 miles north of Tampa, Florida, around 9 p.m. on September 23. According to the complaint, Vogt, 61, admitted to deputies that he had killed and ate the peacocks “out of spite” because the neighbor kept feeding them, per People.
He also allegedly said that he plans to kill his remaining birds when he’s out of jail so that no one else could care for them.
